Performance Analytics And Strategic Control In Family Businesses: An Integrated Framework
Keywords:
family business, performance analytics, strategic controlAbstract
The article develops an integrated framework that links performance analytics to strategic control in family businesses. A four-layer architecture of performance analytics – data, metrics, analysis and decision layers – is substantiated, and the typical points of failure at each layer in family firms are identified. A balanced portfolio of key performance indicators covering financial, operational, customer, people and family governance domains is proposed, in which nonfinancial goals arising from socioemotional wealth are measured explicitly. A five-level analytics maturity model is developed, the mapping of analytical tools onto the four levers of control is presented, and a composite readiness index is proposed with an illustrative calculation. The barriers to implementation and a staged roadmap are discussed
